National Art Competition

The National Art Competition is an annual arts competition with each edition driven by pertinent themes in line with current social issues.  It is organized by the African Artists’ Foundation and sponsored by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education.

It is designed only for students in JSS1 –SS3. It is strictly an art contest that requires you to paint or draw something centered on the theme for the year.

Over the years, over 500 entries from over 200 schools in Nigeria are received. Six contestants are recognized out of the many applicants, 3 winners from the junior secondary school category and 3 winners from the senior secondary school category an award and an exhibition ceremony takes place at the MUSON Centre Onikan. They are usually rewarded with a cash prize and scholarship throughout their education for both the junior and the senior category. They also get financial support of at most a N100, 000 throughout their secondary education
